What if, instead of taking one trip, you take two? This is the good idea of the airline Icelandair, which offers to transform a simple stopover of a few hours in Iceland into a short trip that allows you to discover the country for longer, from one day to 8 full days, at no additional cost (in done, you just have to have time). This is the concept of stopover. The idea? We book our transatlantic flight (to the United States or Canada) and instead of having a layover of a few hours which does not allow us to leave the airport and visit, we take advantage of a layover of one to several days, at no additional cost compared to a classic flight (on-site accommodation and activities are obviously at our expense).
On the Icelandair website, we find suggestions for things to do, depending on whether we have one day, two days, three days or five days (and our budget of course). And frankly, it's envy! If we only have one day, we put on relaxation with a foot bath in Grótta (south-west of the country), with a breathtaking view of the mountains, and we treat ourselves to a good meal at the Slippbarinn and a massage at the Sóley Natura spa in Reykjavik. Two days or more? We bet on culture with the many theaters in the city, art galleries and concert halls. And of course, we enjoy the delicious meals in the various restaurants of 101 Reykjavik, the heart of the city. You can also take an internal flight to the north of the island and discover wonderful natural places such as Lake Mývatn and its natural gentle baths or go south, do your fill of activities such as snowmobiling, horse riding, exploring waterfalls. water… The dream!
How about a stopover in Iceland?
