Now that the rules are starting to relax, many people are starting to think about holidays again. However, many people believe that vacation will initially be closer to home and that probably happens by car. As motorhome owners prepare for the coming season, we offer some tips to keep your camping spot clean.
1. Set up a DIY sink It's hard to find a sink with running water to wash dishes at campsites and picnic areas, but hygiene is now more important than ever. To make your own sink, place a barrel of about 20 liters with a faucet on the edge of a picnic table. Place a bucket underneath. Then let the water run from the tap and you can wash your dishes.
2. Clean your cast iron
While the cookware is still warm (but not hot), rinse the pan with warm water. Then use a scrub brush to remove all food particles and grease. Pat dry with a towel and let it air dry. If the finish looks glossy and black, you're done. Just remember the #1 rule of cast iron:never use soap!
3. Pack it up
Make sure you bring plenty of garbage bags, shopping bags and large resealable bags. These come in handy for everything from storing leftover food to sorting the laundry to storing a wet swimsuit.
4. Clean the cool box thoroughly
Mix a small amount of baking soda and water to form a paste. Let the paste set for 3-5 minutes. Then use a brush to scrub the inside and outside of the cooler. Pour a small amount of vinegar into the cooler until the pasta bubbles. Empty the cool box via the spout or tilt. Rinse with cold water, drain again and wipe dry.
5. Dry your tent
Prevent the build-up of mold on your tent. Mix 1 cup of lemon juice, 1 cup of salt and 1 quart of warm water. Use scrub brush and scrub with mixture. Let the tent dry completely.
6. Depilate your window screens
In the summer, pollen seems to be everywhere. Instead of washing the window of your motorhome, you can easily use a lint roller. Just pass it over the window to quickly pick it up and you're done.
