The amusement parks will open their doors again soon. Unfortunately, amusement parks are generally very expensive. That's why I'm sharing tips today to get a discount at amusement parks.
Theme parks, almost unaffordable for families
The entrance fee of an average amusement park is around 70 euros for a family. Here are outliers, such as the Efteling where a family of 4 people can easily lose 168 Euros including parking. Costs for food and drinks are not included. To make a small comparison:you can get a plane ticket outside the school holidays for a few tens. In many countries, a hotel also costs very little, as does food and drink. For 168 euros you can already make a nice trip to a nice city abroad.
The high costs are not only reflected in amusement parks. Zoos in the Netherlands also cost a lot of money. Here too, a family spends almost 80 euros on entrance fees and parking fees. All this ensures that especially large families and people who are less fortunate do not (often) go to an amusement park or zoo. Which is a shame, because it's the perfect way to give your kids a fun day out. That's why I'm sharing tips today to get a discount at amusement parks.

Overview of all amusement parks in the Netherlands, Germany and Europe
Before I give tips for discounts, I would like to give a tip about the amusement parks themselves. There are many amusement parks in the Netherlands and Germany. These are often tied to a specific theme (Efteling =fairy tales, Slagharen =horses and the Wild West). Not all amusement parks are suitable for all ages. Some amusement parks are mainly aimed at small children, such as Toverland, while other amusement parks are perfectly suitable for young and old, such as Walibi. Drievliet is very popular here in the house. Small-scale, fun for young and old and above all reasonably affordable.
Many amusement parks are known to everyone, others less so. At amusement parks.nl you will find all amusement parks in a handy overview. Here you will not only find all amusement parks in the Netherlands, but also amusement parks in Germany and the rest of Europe. Ideal if you need some inspiration which amusement park is fun to visit.
Tips to get a discount at amusement parks
Now you are naturally curious about how you can get a discount on your next visit to an amusement park. Below my tips for a discount:
Jumbo has a special promotion every year with which you can save Day Out coins. These coins are worth money and give you a discount on amusement parks, among other things
Albert Heijn also usually has a promotion with which you can save for a discount on various amusement parks and days out
In addition, I advise you to buy your tickets in advance. Online tickets are often slightly cheaper than at the cash register
Also keep an eye on websites like Holiday Auctions and Groupon. These websites offer you the opportunity to purchase cheap entrance tickets
Look at Marktplaats. Sometimes, due to circumstances, people can no longer go to an amusement park, but they have already purchased the entrance tickets. These are often offered cheaper
Sometimes people receive entrance tickets to a zoo or an amusement park from the Postcode Lottery. Not everyone uses these cards and that is why they are regularly offered for sale (cheaper than entrance). Check out the different Facebook groups for this
Some amusement parks have days when the entrance is cheaper. This can be outside the holiday season, but also on weekdays or special times
It is also useful to keep an eye on Facebook pages and the websites of the various amusement parks. Sometimes they raffle tickets or a discount is given on the website itself
In many cases it is profitable to buy a subscription. Are you planning to visit the amusement park several times? Then buy an annual subscription right away. You often have the annual subscription out after three visits. In addition, with many subscriptions you get discount cards for other amusement parks or zoos
Go to an amusement park with a group. Put together a group of other families, friends or relatives and take advantage of the group discount. The rules on this differ per amusement park. Of course you can also just drive to an amusement park and try to form a group with other visitors at the checkout
Of course it is useful to go to an amusement park by car. Still, it pays to take a look at the NS website every now and then. They often have combination discounts:then you get a train ticket including entrance for a certain price. This can also save a lot of money, although I have to say in all honesty that it can also cause quite a lot of stress for families, because when traveling by public transport you have to deal with transfers, fixed departure times and much more
These were my tips to get a discount on the entrance to amusement parks. If you have any tips of your own, I'd love to hear them .
