When it comes to summer vacation destinations, all tastes are in nature... And precisely, there are fewer of them, but there are still those who prefer the countryside or the mountains to the traditional stay by the sea. So of course, the arrangements to be made are not the same depending on the chosen environment. We help you pack your bags, showing you the essentials to take to the sea, to the mountains or to the countryside.
We start with the easiest. For certain regions such as the Mediterranean and its sun which is rarely lacking, we think of glasses, a hat, sunscreen and a first aid kit to treat red skin and mosquito bites. We do not forget of course the bath towels (it will save us from buying them on the market…) and on the clothing side, we can afford to play on casual and more chic. Comfortable flip-flops and playsuits are a must for the afternoon, and in the evening, you can indulge in a few fantasies. For outings to a restaurant or simply for an Italian-style ice cream in the city center, bring the imposing jewels and/or flashy colors, the long dresses, the pants with ethnic motifs... For the night, we take the babydoll or the lightweight (and cute) tank top/shorts combo. Are you tempted by cooler regions such as the Normandy or Breton coasts? It's the same, except that we also bring warmer clothes (sweaters, light tights, linen pants...). Basically, holidays by the sea are practical, laid-back and a bit sophisticated!
We go to the other extreme. If you choose the mountains in summer, it's because you have the soul of an adventurer! Sublimated by the rays of the sun, it offers breathtaking landscapes, conducive to welcoming walkers and hikers. First essential object:glasses with a high protective index to protect against reverberation (which damages the cornea). In terms of outfit, we favor comfort and above all practicality:a fleece for cool evenings, a multi-pocket backpack, walking shoes AND light socks (beware of overheating and blisters), light hat but with wide brims (which protects the neck), sunscreen (yes!) and possibly a refrigerated bag to keep the water. We think of the swimsuit and the thermal suit if we have one, because we probably won't resist taking a dip in the superb lakes... frozen!
Ahhh, the smell of hay and rain in the greenery... Yes, because we agree that if the countryside retains its charm all year round, it can have some weather surprises in store for us. This is why we consider that the essential to stay there, it remains the mythical rubber boots. The advantage is that they do not keep you warm if the weather is nice and that they protect from muddy ground. It's up to us to go out with family or friends off-road with dry feet! Well, we also take comfortable sneakers for long walks/hikes. And, as in the mountains, we prefer practical and easy-to-put-on clothes:jeans, T-shirts, sweaters, trainers, shorts... Taking care not to bring too many messy colors. The hat (in straw, to play it to the end) is essential, as is sunscreen, mosquito repellent, sunglasses AND a water mister.
