Holidays:where to go in France with your pet?

Holidays are often synonymous with headaches for pet owners. Failing to keep them, some owners decide to take their furry or feathered companion in their suitcases. A great idea, if Médor is accepted on the beach or you plan to sunbathe! Because between the legislation and the various prohibitions, if you don't make arrangements, the holidays can quickly turn into I-stay-at-home-with-my-cat. We therefore make sure to choose accommodations and cities that are more pet-friendly , where animals are accepted. HomeToGo.fr has listed them.

France is rather pet-friendly…

Of the thirteen new regions in the country, it is clear that five of them particularly stand out for welcoming animals during our holidays. Like the Grand Est region, which has 38.2% of pet-friendly accommodation , followed closely by Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (37.5%), then by Corsica (37.1%), Occitania (34%), Brittany (33.5%) and finally, New -Aquitaine (32.90%). On the other hand, Ile-de-France is the youngest, with only 17% of pet-friendly vacation rentals. But the capital is progressing rather well; in 2015, Paris had 1,400 offers with the “animals welcome” filter, compared to 6,342 today.

… and some of its beaches too!

Beaches allowing pets are rather rare, especially for health and safety reasons. In busy periods, some of them may eventually be closed; this is why it is essential to consult the instructions displayed at the entrance to each beach. In the PACA region, you can in theory go to the Esclamandes beach in Fréjus, in the Var; animals are allowed there, as are their bathing, but dogs must be kept on a leash. Same rules for Les Eclaireurs beach in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, in the same department. In Brittany, the beaches of Plouharnel and Olonne-sur-Mer also accept dogs. The first authorizes swimming and requires leashing from June 1 to September 30, while the second prohibits their swimming and requires them to be kept on a leash all year round. In Corsica, two beaches allow us to walk Médor:that of Porto-Vecchio (leash is compulsory and no swimming in July and August) and that of Bonifacio, which allows swimming.

Finally, for everything to go well, it is better to remember to always have the animal's papers with you (vaccinations, electronic chip number) and provide a bowl and a bottle of fresh water to allow it to drink as regularly. as possible. We obviously pick up his droppings and watch him closely, especially if the beach is frequented by families with young children.

Happy holidays to you … and to him!
