The end-of-year holidays (between Christmas and New Year's Eve) are often very popular with travelers from all over the world. The problem is that leaving at this time is not always a given. Here are some tips, by destination, given by the travel site TripAdvisor in a report that saves 10% to 55% (not negligible!) on our hotel reservations.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no need to plan too far in advance (as far as hotels are concerned) to go to the United States. Prices are constant from March to November, around 125 euros per night, and begin to drop from this date. Thanksgiving week turns out to be the perfect time to save the most money, an average of 21%, compared to the rates charged during peak periods.
As far as Europe is concerned, it is not the same story. The average price of a hotel for the holidays is 90 euros. The ideal is to do it as soon as possible, from March if possible. For those who live hand to mouth and don't have a clue what they will be doing during the holidays at the start of the year, it is possible to wait until mid-November when prices drop by 5% . After this date, do not hope to obtain unbeatable prices, prices soar!
In Asia, the price of hotels is much lower, 60 euros on average, and the TripAdvisor report notes a gradual decline from February to the end of December. It is therefore advisable to make reservations after September to save up to 16% on peak rates. In Asia Pacific, the average price for a hotel night is 116 euros and the best time to book is between September and the end of November.
Prices are stable in Central America and are around 102 euros per hotel night. However, a price increase of up to 5% is observed between the end of August and December. Head to South America now where prices drop 10% between mid-July and September, and 5% between mid- and late December. The rest of the time, prices stabilize at an average of 83 euros.
To go to Africa during the end of the year holidays, you have to pay an average of 108 euros. However, a drop in prices was observed from November, going as far as to decrease by 10% compared to the highest rates.
Here we are, we now have all the keys in hand to book our end-of-year holidays at the lowest price, whatever the destination. And for even more details, in particular the prices charged in the major tourist cities, it is on TripAdvisor that it happens.
