Hundredrooms is a website on which you can compare different types of accommodation, to prepare your trips. The comparator conducted a study to find out what the habits of the young generation were when they travel. For this, 300 students (aged 20 to 35) from Sciences Po Lille and the rest of France were interviewed. The study thus reports that when young people choose an accommodation rental, they do so mainly according to the price and the authenticity of the places, but are also sensitive to the opinions of other travellers. They prefer, for example, to be in the old town or historic centers.
The survey shows that young people tend to take advantage of the good deals that are available on the internet (yes, they were "born into it" and are very knowledgeable about websites) and to use comparators. Moreover, the preferred way to organize the reservation of their accommodation is the computer (even if the search is often done on a smartphone, the computer remains privileged for payment). In addition, we learn that 54% of young people do not pay more than €50 for a night in a rental apartment. As for the destinations that are popular with Generation Y, it is mainly Europe, for its historical past and its cultural richness. Finally, “nature” destinations such as the mountains are preferred, before the beach! Young people also like to travel regularly, on average every three months (peaking in the summer) and are organized, since they plan everything between three and six months in advance.
