Whether you are a lover of art, architecture, history, very romantic or simply moved by beautiful landscapes, Italy is one of our favorite destinations, and especially Rome, its capital! So, to help us live an unforgettable trip and keep (only) good memories, the Romans have compiled on the site Quora the list of mistakes most often made by tourists in their city… And it’s really useful!
Regarding tourism, locals advise not to visit the most popular places (Colosseum, Fountains, etc.) in the middle of the afternoon, so as to avoid the crowds. According to them, to make the most of the capital, you should not hesitate to move away from the city center to discover on foot other districts which also contain beautiful architectural surprises. Always to avoid the world (and escape the heat), we prefer to visit churches rather than museums... and it's more economical! In terms of period, the Romans advise tourists not to come only in summer but also in autumn, even in winter, to take advantage of more attractive prices (although, if you fly to Italy, it is also for its climate). And if you opt for public transport, do not forget to allow a margin of delay, especially for buses, as explained by the magazine Insider . As for restaurants, it would be rather useful to learn a few words of Italian before pushing the door of a local bistro, where the managers do not always speak English. For the menu, the locals obviously advise opting for an Italian wine (at the same time, that's what we're here for!), and for dessert, to be tempted by one of the delicious long coffees prepared in Italy! Finally, they recommend not to forget the presence of pickpockets in the streets, and therefore to remain vigilant with your valuables... stealing your wallet quickly ruins the holidays!
