The summer holidays are officially over for the whole of the Netherlands from today. As nice as it was:we also like to come home again. Most of all, we look forward to being able to sleep in our own bed. Especially women (79%, compared to 69% of men) love to sleep in their own bed again. This is apparent from a survey by energy company Essent among 750 Dutch people into what they consider to be comfort at home.
Our own familiar home and environment is good for second place. Especially people without children (60%) enjoy this again after the holidays. For people with children, the comfort of their own home is slightly less important when they return home (52%). Returners appreciate the space that our own home offers compared to the holiday accommodation with a third place. This space is a relief, especially for people who own a house (42%) and people with children (40%). Homeowners (38%) and parents (36%) also enjoy their own bathroom more when they return home than renters (29%) and single people (23%). It is striking that men appreciate being able to flop down on their own couch more than women. Men put couch hanging in third place. Women prefer to cuddle with their pet (38%, compared to 26% of men).
