14th Istanbul Biennial:Saltwater – A Theory of Thought Forms

The 14th Istanbul Biennial kicked off last Saturday. The event, which will take place until November 1, 2015, is called Saltwater. More than 80 artists and other participants from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and North America are involved in the cultural event this edition. Their works are displayed in 30 different locations along the European and Asian sides of the Bosphorus. In addition to museums, this also concerns temporary exhibition spaces on land and water, such as boats, garages and former bank buildings.

Saltwater. A Theory of Thought Forms explores where to draw the line and how to draw on it – and beyond – through organic and non-linear forms that connect art-related research with other knowledge. This both on the water, on flat surfaces within easy reach, but also in the depth and underwater. More than 80 artists and other participants such as oceanographers, story tellers, mathematicians and neuroscientists are part of the exhibition that spans numerous locations along the Bosphorus.
