We've all seen her. The effortlessly chic woman at the airport who looks like a ringlet, while the rest of us walk around in our flip flops, ponytails and leggings. With the tips below you will look stylish the next time you travel.
A spacious bag
Don't put your stuff in a worn out gym bag or shopping bag with your wallet and laptop case under the other arm. Instead, invest in a large bag made of leather or faux leather in a neutral color with a few pockets to keep things in the right place. Your book or e-reader, your makeup bag, a pair of socks and some snacks are all you really need.
Large sunglasses
Nobody is suggesting that your face needs to be covered in makeup to look polished, but the style points you automatically earn from oversized dark sunglasses shouldn't be understated when traveling.
A large scarf Always travel with an oversized scarf for the plane. Planes are cold and a classic scarf does double duty as a cozy blanket. It doesn't have to be an expensive copy, cheap versions also work well.
Shoes are important
Most women prefer comfortable and easy-to-remove shoes over stylish ones because of the obvious benefits (you can go through a security check faster, you can sprint from one end of the airport to the other). Big mistake. It's just not possible to look chic in flip-flops or clogs. Choose a loafer or ballet flats.
Don't forget the haircut
There are only two ways to choose your hair; classic or carefree. By classic we mean a bun or a low ponytail. Our definition of carefree style is all about ease and making it look like you didn't put much effort into it. Think of the messy look when you just got out of bed. It's fresh and modern.
When in doubt – dress like a Parisian
French women just know how to dress well. They keep the clothes simple and as expensive as they can afford. You want to stick to a neutral palette – black, nude, and white always come first. A white blouse and black pants with a bit of stretch work well and can be found in every price range.
Don't forget the icing on the cake
If you don't have time for makeup – a classic red lipstick will give you an instant glow and a pop of color.
