Vacations are meant to leave everyday life behind and take a break from it all. They are a time of relaxation, enjoyment and fun. But in this day and age and with all our new technologies, it's so easy to get caught up in the things we should forget, whether that's work or the pressure to keep up with society's unrealistic "standards." So to help, here's some things to stop worrying about when you're on vacation.
Work emails
If you have access to your work emails on your mobile, it's easy to check your emails over breakfast. You might think it will ease your workload when you get back to the office, but just don't. Your out of office message is there for a reason - people don't expect you to reply, they expect you to be sunbathing on a beach, enjoying your vacation.
What you eat
Yes, it is absolutely fine to follow a healthy eating regimen, and of course there are always options for eating well while on vacation, but don't let that affect your enjoyment of your vacation. Don't be tempted by guilt when you grab a second plate at the hotel buffet – it's not every day that you have so many deliciously tempting dishes in front of you.
How you look in your bathing suit/bikini
Scroll through the pages of a glossy magazine or Instagram and all you see are photos of thin, slim and toned models in bikinis. But this is really not a realistic picture of society. All articles are about getting the perfect beach body, but the trick is to just be happy with the body you have. And do you want to know a secret? Nobody even notices.
Social Media If there's one thing we're all guilty of, it's overusing social media. It's all well and good, occasionally letting people back home know what you're up to, but don't let it take over your vacation. Vacations don't last forever and before you know it, the vacation has flown by through the lens of your smartphone.
Money
Vacation is not always cheap. You may have found a good deal, but then you also have your budget to take into account. But remember, a vacation should be a fun time that you probably look forward to months in advance. Yes, be sensible, but don't be afraid of that excursion or that meal at the fancy restaurant just because it's out of your budget. Another option might be to book an All-inclusive holiday.
Training This may be the last thing many people think about when on vacation, but for those who exercise regularly, a break from the routine coupled with overeating can leave them feeling unwell about the lack to movement. But come on, you're on vacation! Enjoy the break and start again when you get home. You will probably also exercise more on holiday than you realize, with swimming, walking and maybe even renting bicycles.
Time
You know that, you're on vacation for three days and you're already sad because you only have four days left before you go home? We spend so much time counting down the days until our vacation, and then suddenly we count the days until we get home! Stop it! And enjoy…
