Christmas is approaching and that means that there will be Christmas markets everywhere at home and abroad. Almost everyone knows the markets in the Netherlands and Germany, but did you know that you can also do Christmas shopping very well at the Christmas market in London?
London is the tourist attraction of England and can be visited all year round. London has many places of interest, spread all over the city. We ourselves have been in London during our holiday in 2014. We walked over the famous London Tower Bridge, walked past Buckingham Palace and Big Ben and visited Piccadilly Circus.
The city has many museums, making it difficult to choose. We ended up visiting the Natural History Museum and Ripley's Believe it or not. The latter was a resounding success with our two teenagers. Highly recommended if you are fond of curiosities and have children who find a museum really boring.
London is also the place to be if you like going out. Countless restaurants, cinemas, theaters and nightclubs provide visitors with entertainment day and night. Boredom is certainly not an option.
English people love Christmas and it shows. From November, the shopping streets in the English capital are a real sensation. One shop window is even more beautiful than the other. The well-known Harrod's with its special Christmas section is a must see if you are in England around Christmas time. In addition to the many (well-known) shops and shopping streets, don't forget to visit the London Christmas Markets.
The two most famous Christmas markets in London are Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and Winter Market in Southbank Centre. Winter Wonderland is a big party for young and old. There is a real German Christmas market, no less than two Christmas circuses, a real old-fashioned funfair and ice rink. The inner man will not be short of anything and can feast on all kinds of typical Christmas delicacies, such as mulled wine and German bratwurst. In any case, you will not be bored during a visit to this Christmas market in England.
At the Winter Market in Southbank Center you will find 50 wooden stalls where you can shop to your heart's content. There is plenty of entertainment from live music to choirs, ice sculptures and if you want to relax you can relax in the Finnish sauna with free views over the River Thames. Ideal as the weather in England can be quite cold and wet. The perfect place to buy the last gifts for Christmas Eve.
Have you ever gone Christmas shopping at the Christmas Market in London? Or have you ever been to England during Christmas?
