Bubble Maze in Arnhem

Would you like to try something different than the oh-so-famous Starbucks? Then you've come to the right place at Bubble Maze in Arnhem. My daughter and I have been to Arnhem and today you can read what we thought of the service, the offer and the environment. Read all about Bubble Maze in Arnhem.

Arnhem

Arnhem is a fairly well-known city, not least because of its turbulent past (WWII) and of course football club Vitesse. For shopaholics, Arnhem is the place to be with a city center where you will find the most diverse shops. From well-known large retail chains to small but fine boutiques that every fashionista can indulge in, Arnhem has it all.

The inner man will not be short of anything here either, thanks to the many restaurants, lunchrooms and cafes. For example, we have good experience with Bistro Cafe Robin Hood. If you are looking for some more culinary delights, you will certainly find what you are looking for in the city center. From Italian to Greek, from Argentinian to Japanese, there are plenty of cuisines represented in this city. A special place is Bubble Maze, which is known for its extensive range of bubble tea.

What is bubble tea or bubble tea?

Before I tell you more about our experience at Bubble Maze, I would like to briefly discuss what bubble tea actually is. If you were to translate it one-to-one, you would get tea with bubbles. However, this translation doesn't quite cover it. Bubble tea is a concept that has come over from Taiwan and is now increasing in popularity.

Bubble tea consists of cooled tea with added a flavor of your choice and milk. You can also add yogurt to it to make it more like a smoothie. The drink is then mixed, creating many air bubbles. After this, traditionally authentic tapioca balls are added. These tapioca balls look like bubbles. In the mouth, the tapioca balls provide a special sensation when you bite on them. Incidentally, the balls do not have much taste, because tapioca is made from cassava flour.

Bubble Maze in Arnhem

Bubble Maze can be found at Jansplaats 18 in Arnhem. PLEASE NOTE:They are moving! As soon as the move is complete, I will change this at the bottom, so that you know exactly where to find this hotspot from now on. Bubble Maze immediately catches the eye because of the cheerful and colorful pictures on the wall. The space is fresh and attractive, perfect for enjoying a delicious bubble tea. There is room to sit inside, but when the weather is nice you can also enjoy a cup of bubble tea outside. Inside there is also a small, but very clean toilet, so you don't have to leave with a full bladder.

As mentioned before, I went to Bubble Maze with my daughter. We have received an invitation to get acquainted with this unknown drink. We received a very detailed explanation, were allowed to take a look in the kitchen to see what the bubble tea was made of and what the whole concept actually entails. Very interesting and I learned a lot during my visit.

At Bubble Maze you can mainly order bubble tea, but in winter they also have hot drinks. In the summer, the choice is supplemented with homemade milkshakes and homemade ice cream in exciting flavors such as Nutella, Oreo and Bueno. Although we also ate ice cream, it was of course the bubble tea.

The fruit syrups from Possmei are mainly used for the composition of the flavors, the brand that is used worldwide for making bubble tea. Because the flavors are fairly limited, Arnhem has opted to supplement the fruit syrups of the Monin brand. The basis for any bubble tea is, of course, tea. For this, two large kettles of tea are brewed every morning:green and black tea. You have various choices for composing the bubble tea, not only in terms of flavors, but also in terms of composition.

In the first place, you can opt for 'regular' iced tea with a variety of flavors. You can also choose milk tea, milk and yogurt. Bubble tea with yogurt is very similar to a smoothie, only a lot sweeter. You can also choose from three different sizes:S, M and L and as an extra:duo (which can hold up to two flavours, ideal if you can't make a choice).

Our experience

After the tour it was time to taste the famous bubble tea for yourself. We were allowed to choose a flavor from all available combinations (iced tea, tea with milk, milk and yogurt) that we wanted to taste. My daughter was given the choice and it became the following flavours/combinations:

  • Honeydew iced tea
  • Tea with milk Japanese matcha
  • Milk chocolate cookies
  • Yogurt Green apple

Because there were no tapioca balls in stock and my daughter is allergic to pineapple (in ball shape for the bubbles), we got tutti frutti and lichi 'filling' jello (looks a bit like gelatine pudding pieces).

We tasted all the flavors and liked the honeydew iced tea and milk chocolate cookies the best. The bubble tea has a particularly strong taste and is also quite sweet. This is a point that you should take into account when ordering. Because we couldn't possibly drink all the bubble tea ourselves, we took the cups home for the other testers. Hubby didn't like the drinks very much (not his taste), but hubby drank the bubble tea in pairs. He thought the chocolate cookie was very sweet, but he did enjoy it.

Because I love ice cream (yes, you can wake me up for that at night, that also applies to Greek food!) we also tasted a scoop of ice cream. My daughter chose Nutella and I chose Bueno. Surprisingly, the ice cream was not overly sweet and tasted delicious (even on a somewhat colder October day).

If you feel like a hot drink now, you can also go to Bubble Maze. Because they have a separate drink list especially for the colder months. Of course, the main product remains bubble tea. Are you a real tea lover and looking for an alternative to Starbucks? Then I can recommend this address.
