Trip tip for the holiday Sealife Oberhausen

This time a nice tip for the holiday Sealife Oberhausen. On Saturday 2 June we went to Sealife in Oberhausen with the family. Read all about this today, including photos, of course, so that you already have a small impression of what you can expect.

Tip for the holiday Sealife Oberhausen

Years ago we went to Sealife Scheveningen once, but it was not a huge success. The children are now a lot older (read adult and almost adult) and they look at things differently. So when we were allowed to go to Sealife Oberhausen, everyone in the house was very enthusiastic. After many postponements due to illness, we were finally able to make the trip to Oberhausen on Saturday 2 June. And I can tell you:the kids loved it. It is therefore a really nice tip for a family outing during the holiday.

Sealife Oberhausen is located on the promenade where CentrO can also be found. From CentrO it is about a 400 meter walk to Sealife. Legoland Oberhausen is also located here, which is highly recommended for families with young children (although my son would have loved to go there too, since he read that everything is now all about Marvel).

After the checkout you follow a path that leads you along different underwater worlds including a large tunnel that you walk under where fish, turtles and sharks swim above you. With over 2 million liters of water and more than 5,000 inhabitants (mostly underwater/sea dwellers), there is plenty to see. It is not without reason that Sealife Oberhausen is the largest aquarium in Germany. Another fun fact:in Sealife Oberhausen sharks are farmed themselves. Germany's largest shark breeding station is also located here.

There is also a section where rays swim and you get an explanation (unfortunately in German, so maybe a little more difficult for small children to follow). With a bit of luck you can also see how the fish are fed. In addition, more information is given about the different sea and aquatic animals. If you continue through a circle you will return to the same part, but then on the other side and here are different feel tanks. Also very interesting to feel, for example, a shark's egg.

It's not that you walk from one aquarium to another:the entire interior has been made child-friendly with many colors and matching decorations, for example a diving suit. Of course, the Sealife Oberhausen is not only fun to visit, it also has an educational character. For example, young and old  are confronted with the facts about what will happen if we don't cut down on plastic. There is also plenty to learn about the fish themselves. There is currently a special promotion running until July 22, 2018, where children go on a journey of discovery with a nice question booklet in hand. As a result, they learn even more about the wonderful underwater world.

A fixed route has been laid out from the cash register, so that you can be sure that you don't miss anything. Finally, the route first ends in a souvenir shop and then in a restaurant. The souvenir shop is bursting with nice items, which unfortunately are not all equally affordable. However, if you are looking for a nice, small keepsake, then you will certainly succeed here. In the restaurant there are child-friendly menus, a Lego container and a very large container (the top is open) in which sharks and other fish swim.

The corridors up and down where the toilets are are painted in cheerful colors. Ideal to trigger the imagination of young visitors. The walls are also nice as a background for taking pictures (yes, I took pictures here of my husband and daughter with her boyfriend, but unfortunately they prefer not to have these pictures online). But to give you an idea, you can see what that looks like in the photo below.
