We think Amsterdam is a wonderful city. I wouldn't want to live there, but I enjoy strolling through it every now and then. We can therefore certainly be found in Amsterdam a few times a year. In fact, my next visit to Amsterdam is already planned for early October. But this time we viewed Amsterdam from the water. That gives a completely different impression!

It is not only a very nice way to view Amsterdam from the water, but also corona proof! We let ourselves sail through the canals by a private skipper. How cool is that? So you can just take a private boat trip through the canals of Amsterdam.
We made a private boat trip with the 4 of us, but you can also go on the Starboard Boats boat with 40 people if you want. And everything in between 😉 . Now in corona time, the numbers have been adjusted a bit. Check the website for this private canal cruise in Amsterdam. Also nice to take a trip through Amsterdam with a group of friends or to celebrate your birthday there with your family.
If I'm honest, I have to admit that we have experienced Amsterdam from the water before. That was with a tour boat. That was nice too, but I found this private boat trip a lot more attractive!
I am a lot more comfortable on an electric boat with my friends, my family or my relatives than in a tour boat with a lot of other unknown people. In addition, this boat is complete with a toilet, heated cushions, WIFI and a cover in case the weather changes. And last but not least… you can grab a nice drink and snack during your boat trip if you want. Oh yes, and of course view the beautiful houseboats that lie there. So nothing stands in the way of a cozy get-together while you glide over the water and take in the heart of Amsterdam.
Another very nice side effect is that you have personal contact with the skipper. Normally you don't speak of course to the skipper of a tour boat. In our conversation with the skipper, we found out that he had only been in Amsterdam for a week! So he didn't have a lot of background information about what we got to see from the water along the Amsterdam canals 😉 . But we did get a 'look' into his special life and I think that is at least as special.
You sail through the canals for about 1.5 hours. A wonderful addition to your day in Amsterdam, especially because it looks really different from the water than from the street. And while you're in Amsterdam, check out the Wondr Experience museum… very cool!
In our case I am also always looking for outings with the children that are also fun for an adolescent. And I can tell you, this private boat trip was very much appreciated by him. Not least because of the fact that he was allowed to drink unlimited (just soda for him 😉) with a nice snack. Some kind of pampering for the inner teenager is always good, right? The boat trip went so well that it was included in our memories photo album!
