Summer holidays do not necessarily rhyme with camping or rentals by the sea, and those who dream of new places and unusual destinations can easily find what they are looking for on the Airbnb site. There is for example the "bathotel", a small fisherman's hut located in a valley in Wales, but there is also the more exotic option:staying only a few kilometers from an active Hawaiian volcano. The house, baptized Phoenix House (we know a more reassuring name given the circumstances…), comprises a single bedroom and is located exactly 6.5 kilometers from Kilauea, a volcano which bears the same name as the island on which it is located. is located and which is incidentally considered the most active in the world. It has indeed erupted 66 times and regularly since 1983... But the charm of the house will undoubtedly make the less daring of us (or not) forget this detail.
The place is described by its owner Jade as “a small minimalist house partly made of lava ". Not sure that this will relax future tenants... Its 40-metre surface, the kitchenette, the raised bedroom, the living room and the bathroom are suitable for a single resident, who will still be able to take advantage of the high-speed Wi-Fi ( good news for those who want to Instagram around). The large windows and bay windows placed in all the rooms allow to have on one side a breathtaking view of the volcano and the expanses of black lava, and on the other on the Pacific Ocean. Magical ! Jade describes her property as the perfect place for a temporary retreat, meditation or “spiritual recovery”. The young woman even offers to play tourist guides, with a little detour to the black sand beaches or the waterfalls, and also gives yoga lessons. There, that speaks to us a little more! The Phoenix House is rented out on Airbnb for €102 a night.
So, would you be tempted by such an experience?
