Slopes seem like the ultimate setting for flirting. Half of the single winter sports enthusiasts (49%) believe that a winter sports holiday offers the ideal conditions to flirt or even find a permanent partner, according to European research by dating site Parship. According to winter sports enthusiasts, the best place to make first advances is at the bar of an après-ski hut. A third of winter sports enthusiasts say they have flirted with après ski. For most, however, the fun remains with a night out, because in only 12 percent of the cases, this attempt at hooking up is the start of a beautiful relationship.
The ski instructor is popular with many singles. More than one in five ski and snowboard enthusiasts have fallen for the charms of a teacher at some point. And then it doesn't just stop at glaring from the ski lift or imitating falls and then being rescued by the instructor. One in ten (11%) has ever taken a teacher to the chalet and had a holiday crush.
Although it is mainly short-lived romances that start on the slopes, the mountains can also be the scene of love initiation. One in ten winter sports enthusiasts (12%) say they have had a relationship with someone they met during winter sports.
