The Dutch are among the people who quickly relax on holiday, and that is certainly to our advantage. This way we don't always have to take a whole week off, but we can even completely relax during a few days away. Because what could be nicer than escaping the daily grind and enjoying a wonderful weekend away? Exactly, there is nothing better than spending time with your family!
1. La Roche en Ardenne
The beautiful nature, survival routes, caves, museums, castles and many other sights that you will find in the Ardennes will ensure that everyone has a good time during a weekend away. Organize a nice day trip or nice walk around your holiday home. The children can enjoy climbing in the trees and romping in the woods. A kayak trip from La Roche en Ardenne on the Ourthe is also definitely worth it!
2. Texel
The Dutch Texel is of course also an ideal destination for a weekend away. Get a breath of fresh air on the beach or take a look at the seals in the famous Ecomare. The children will have a great time building sandcastles here, while you can enjoy a drink on the terrace. And if you don't have a car, you can always cycle around the island!
3. Limburg
And while we are talking about the Netherlands, Limburg should certainly not be missed! This southern province offers endless activities to do with the family. Visit the beautiful city of Maastricht or go on a day trip to the caves of Valkenburg. Due to the beautiful nature and the conviviality that Limburg has to offer, it is a perfect holiday destination for a weekend away. And it is of course a big advantage that it is nice and close to home!
4. Barcelona
This city is slightly further away, but is only a 2 hour flight from the Netherlands. This way you have the feeling that you are really away from it all. And it doesn't matter if you don't have a car. Barcelona is easy to explore by metro so you don't have to walk everything and still get to see every attraction up close. Take the little guys to the Camp Nou football stadium or visit the grand aquarium. You will be amazed in this diverse city!
5. Eifel
For a bit more nature, it is ideal to go to the Eifel for a weekend. It is about a 3 hour drive from Utrecht and therefore a perfect destination for a weekend away! The various zoos and amusement parks in the Eifel are fun for young and old. Explore the beautiful surroundings around your holiday home and enjoy the peace and privacy. This way, both the children and yourself can enjoy a well-deserved weekend away!
