Walking through the Museum Quarter
Amsterdam is popular for its famous museums. The most famous, such as the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Stedelijk Museum, are located close to each other in the Museum Quarter. But there are also many smaller galleries and the world-famous Concertgebouw. This neighborhood is also packed with unique shops, cafes and restaurants, not to mention the P.C. Hooftstraat, the most exclusive shopping street in Amsterdam. You can relax in one of the two popular green spaces, the Museumplein and the Vondelpark. Walking in the 9 streets
Forget the Kalverstraat and go to the 9 quaint shopping streets that are located in the canal belt of Amsterdam. The 9 streets – the nicest shopping area in the Netherlands – are located just behind the Palace on Dam Square between Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht. For 400 years these streets have been known for trade, craft and culture, and 400 years later they are still buzzing with life. Here you will find the most special shops such as:designer boutiques, vintage clothing stores and various specialty stores. In between strolls, have a bite to eat at one of the many excellent restaurants or cozy cafes.
A visit to the Amsterdam canal belt
Amsterdam is known for its world-famous canal belt. The Amsterdam canal belt was built during the Golden Age (1600-1700) and over the centuries has grown into one of the most unique places in the world. Since 2010, the 165 canals, with a total length of 100 kilometers, have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage. A canal cruise is the best-known and most enjoyable way to discover the Amsterdam canal belt and the surrounding area.
End the day with good food
Amsterdam is a multicultural city and that is also clearly visible in the many restaurants that the city has to offer. A day in Amsterdam should therefore not be concluded without a visit to one (or more) restaurants or eateries. Whatever you're craving and whatever your budget, you'll find it in Amsterdam.
