I know Munich very well as I grew up here and we visit family every now and then. The city is very large and has something to offer visitors in almost every area. Ideal for families with children, but also young people and single elderly people will get their money's worth with the various sights and attractions. Whether in transit to Austria or on a planned holiday in Bavaria, Munich is the place to be in Bavaria.
The tips below are suitable as an outing for a family as well as adults traveling alone. It is a variation of different tips so you can see and do something different every day. From shopping to discovering new things in a museum and relaxing in nature, it's all covered.
As a child I liked and regularly came and actually this has not changed, the Deutsches Museum is really more than worth it. It is a very large museum that you actually have to spend at least 2 days for if you want to see everything at your leisure. The collection is very extensive, but what you should definitely not miss is the glass blowing workshop where they also give demonstrations. If you like a bit of spectacle, then the demonstration in which a lightning is released on a steel cage is a must for you. Close your ears and enjoy (that's all I'll say). Of course there is much more to see including whole planes, everything about textiles, discover more about arithmetic and mathematics and much more.

Do you love animals and are you looking for a fun outing for children in Munich? Then go to Hellabrunn Zoo. I also loved coming here as a child and I still think it is a great zoo. The zoo is not only very affordable, but also very nicely laid out, taking into account the natural habitat of the animals. You also have the option to feed certain animals. You then buy a handful of food from the vending machine (bring enough coins, especially if you go to the zoo with little ones) and then you can feed the goats, ducks, etc. Of course, children can also enjoy themselves in the various playgrounds and there are restaurants in various places where you can enjoy real Bavarian specialties (Brezl, large Wienerwurst or Currywurst, roasted almonds, sugar peanuts and much more).

Munich is a stone's throw from Austria, but luckily you don't have to go to another country to enjoy the mountains. At an hour's drive from Munich you will find mountain Wendelstein. We have been here years ago and it was my family's first introduction to the mountains. And they were all sold immediately! The 1,838 meter high mountain can be reached in various ways. You can hike up, take the funicular or, as we did, opt for the cogwheel train. A special experience where you also enjoy the beautiful view of the forests, waterfalls and nature. On top of the mountain is a restaurant where you can look as far as Munich when the weather is nice. Tip:use sunglasses, especially when you go up the mountain for the first time. In the winter you can of course enjoy winter sports here and in the summer you can go hiking and mountain climbing.

We went to Schloss Linderhof a few years ago and despite the fact that the weather did not play along, we still enjoyed it. Here you can admire not only the castle itself, but also the associated park with all the outbuildings. Extra vagrant:King Ludwig II of Bavaria had a cave where he could swim to his heart's content and where electricity had already been installed at the end of the 19th century. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take photos inside the lock, keep that in mind.

Schloss Linderhof is easiest to reach by car. The castle is located in the Graswangtal, near the municipality of Ettal. More than 550 parking spaces are available.

Of course you should not miss the center of Munich during your holiday. In the historic city center you can enjoy all kinds of architectural highlights such as the Münchner Hofbräuhaus and the Neue Ratshaus. The Frauenkirche, Isartor, Karlstor and of course the Marienplatz are also a must see. There are many more famous historical buildings, so you will not be bored here soon. If you like shopping, the center of Munich is also the place to be.
In the shopping streets you will find well-known large retail chains such as H&M and Kaufhof as well as special boutiques and authentic shops. Enough to alternate the aforementioned outings with a trip to the city center. The inner person has also been thought of and you will find terraces, cafes and restaurants everywhere where you can choose from countless (regional) dishes.
