Today I have a new hotspot tavern 't Wetshuys in Almelo. A nice and cozy establishment with a very extensive menu, where you can have a delicious lunch. The location is easy to find as it is one of the three wedding locations in Almelo.
The building in which the hotspot is located is a very striking place in Almelo:the building dates back to 1691. The town hall and courtroom used to be located here. Later this became a police station and traffic house. The building has only been in use as a restaurant since 1972. The name of the tavern has everything to do with the historical past of the property.
Precisely because of the rich past and the building that is a monument, the municipality of Almelo decided to designate 't Wetshuys as one of the three locations where marriages are allowed. For a wedding, the top floor is used as a wedding hall. In addition, you can also only have your wedding ceremony take place at this location.
As in the past, the building has multiple functions, but usually serves as a tavern/café where conviviality predominates (the law). There is a large terrace on two sides overlooking the shopping street. The menu is very extensive and there is plenty of choice for a delicious brunch, lunch and dinner.
This hotspot was visited by my daughter, her boyfriend and his parents. My daughter was thrilled and thought the food the location was particularly suitable for the hotspot category, which is why I included it here. The report below was published by my daughter.
For my friend's birthday we went for dinner at tavern 't Wetshuys in Almelo. The building has a very cozy feel and the choice on the menu during lunch was very extensive. People who have allergies have been taken into account, so that I could also eat with them (I have a peanut allergy).
Ultimately, the choice was made for shoarma with fries and garnish, a roast beef sandwich and a shoarma sandwich (some meals were doubled because more people were taking the same thing). Of course there is also plenty of choice from all kinds of drinks and we ordered them immediately.
The food and service were very good. The service is neat and attentive and we didn't have to wait very long for the food. The decor is simple, but good and the terrace looked very cozy. However, we sat inside, because it was raining that day and we found it just a bit more fun inside.
So we had lunch at tavern 't Wetshuys in Almelo, but you can also enjoy an extensive dinner there. For example, for a three-course dinner you only pay €17.50.
