Today I am sharing 5 fun things to do in England. Great outings for children, but also great fun things to do alone or as a couple in England. From a great zoo to a really crazy museum, you'll find it all in England. You will find most outings in London, by the way.
England is a popular holiday destination for many, not least because it is actually fairly quick and easy to reach. You take the ferry or the express train and within a few hours you are across the street in England. Some time ago we went to England, where we stayed in London. We have done a lot of fun things in London itself and beyond, together with the whole family.
Of course there is much more to see and discover in and around London and in England, but then this article would be much too extensive. I would like to share 5 fun things to do in England. We were there in the middle of summer, but London is also very nice in winter. Then you can go Christmas shopping at the Christmas market in London.
Below I share my tips for some unforgettable outings in and around London. We made the outings with our children who enjoyed this holiday.
When you are in England, a visit to the inner city of London is almost a must. When in London, use the double-decker buses with a hop-on/hop-off ticket, that way you can see a lot of this metropolis. Of course, like us, you can also just get off right in the center and explore the city on foot. Don't forget to pass London's Tower Bridge, marvel at buildings in various styles such as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace with the Changing of the Guard and Big Ben or go shopping in Oxford or Regent Street. To really discover the center you need at least 2 days and even then you will not have seen everything.
Once in central London, a visit to the famous M&M shop is a must. This is a mecca of colors and flavors that you won't see anywhere else. Of course it's commercial as hell, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an attraction in itself. Not only small children will be delighted here, because with four floors there is really a lot to see. You will find the M&M shop near Piccadilly Circus and you really can't miss the shop, because there are many people walking in and out with striking M&M bags 😉

There is also plenty to see and do outside of London. We were in England with my sister-in-law and her family and while they went to Legoland with our nephew, we went to Colchester Zoo. A lovely zoo just outside London. The zoo is beautifully laid out, has surprising routes and with a bit of luck you can feed the giraffes and elephants (an amazing experience for us). In addition, my husband and daughter also took a train ride and a very burtal monkey sat down with them. In short:I can recommend Colchester Zoo for a nice day in nature and with animals.

After we went to the Natural history museum in New York in 2001 and loved it there, we didn't want to miss the one in London. Just like in America, it is a very large museum, where you have to allow at least 1 day to view everything at your leisure. There are several floors with various departments, including unfortunately special stones, but of course also a lot of stuffed animals. Very instructive and even our teenagers appreciated this museum.

No. 5 initially said Ripley's believe it or not, but unfortunately I just saw on the website that Ripley's has closed its doors. They are looking for another location, but don't know yet if or when it will reopen. That is of course very unfortunate, but fortunately there are also many other things to do in London. That's why another number 5 that we skipped ourselves, but a real recommendation is London Eye.
For many, the London Eye is a must for its stunning views over the Thames and the city itself. We would also have liked to have gone there, but the access is on the high side (for a family of 4 you are quickly converted to almost 100 euros). We walked there and took pictures. London Eye is next to the Thames where there is also a kind of boulevard. Here you will find not only the London Eye, but also Sealife and London Dungeon, interspersed with a lot of restaurants and cafes.
