Aren't you going on vacation this fall? Then you don't have to get bored yet! I already tipped you last year, but Generation Discover Festival promises to be a very special festival again this year. You must be there with your son and/or daughter. A five-day festival where children can really experience science and technology. The Generation Discover Festival takes place from 17 to 21 October in The Hague † And ... it's a festival where you free can go! A great tip for the autumn holiday so.
Table of contents
Generation Discover focuses on young people aged 8 to 14 and has various activities in store for them.
Featuring 8 futuristic hubs at the festival there is a lot to see and experience for this group of children. Consider, for example, the possibilities surrounding energy, but also developments in cities. There is also a mini-lab and the subject of 'Cyber' also receives plenty of attention.
The above topics are presented in an interactive way so that children get more sense of the importance of science and innovations in a super fun playful way. For example, children can:
How nice is that?
If you want more information, read more about this festival on their website.
A visit to the Generation Discover Festival is very instructive, and if they get the hang of it, you may also be able to go to the Bright Day Tech festival later in the year.
There are a lot of developments going on in the world of science and technology † Developments that not only go very fast, but can also be called special. During this five-day festival, children learn all about science and technology and how they can contribute to achieving the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. To stimulate creative and innovative ideas in children Shell, together with partners, is organizing this great festival for the third year. A small impression of the previous edition can be found below.
Generation Discover Festival and Bright Ideas Challenge
The Generation Discover Festival is also closely related to the Bright Ideas Challenge, which was set up for children in groups 7 and 8 in primary education. An online challenge with all kinds of teaching material - suitable for digiboard - where children are challenged to come up with smart ideas. Smart ideas that can bring a sustainable world one step closer.
The winners of this challenge will be announced at the Generation Discover Festival and the ideas generated will be seriously assessed by Shell and partners for possible implementation, now or in the future. If that doesn't work!
Generation Discover is part of a number of initiatives that have been set up to make young people think about the possibilities for the future and to make them enthusiastic about technology.
In addition to Generation Discover, there is, for example, the Jet-Net program in secondary education, the Shell Eco-marathon for the students and the New Energy Challenge for the young entrepreneurs.
The festival is located on the Malieveld site in The Hague † Below you will find the map of the terrain, so you can prepare a bit.
The festival is free of charge, but you must order your tickets in advance so that you are assured of entrance. I'm going with the kids myself on Friday 19 October, will I see you there?
