I have been there about fifteen years ago and I was already surprised by the well-kept appearance of the resorts close to the sea. The choice for a family park depends a bit on how you plan the week. Do you want to go around the Algarve with your rental car or will you all stay by the sea? Are you addicted to the golf course and your children will manage (the Algarve is a mecca for moms who play golf) or are you all on the water and surfing along the Atlantic coast?
If your family wants to surf, look for a park near the west coast. If you prefer nature and touring, choose an accommodation near Silves. If you mainly go to the sea with the children and you occasionally visit a town, then Albufeira is an excellent base. And for hours of golf fun you can actually go anywhere, but you will find the most beautiful places at Vilamoura.
