Croatia is becoming the new favorite destination for directors from all over the world… Why? Its sublime panoramas, the diversity of its landscapes and its surprises...
… seduced Game of Thrones! Season 6 is currently airing, and it is one of the first to pick up the country. Indeed, since the second season, Dubrovnik embodies Port-Réal, the capital of the kingdom of the Seven Crowns. The directors have thus fallen under the spell of what is nicknamed "The jewel of the Adriatic". The beautiful city of Split was also used as a backdrop, and represents the region of Dorne in the series. Finally, the directors chose several Croatian destinations such as the island of Lokrum and the city of Sibenik among others, to represent the "free cities" of Braavos and Quarth. What did they like? Fortresses, old medieval towns, magnificent city walls and landscapes...
And if you want to have a 100% Game of Thrones stay, you can visit:the Diocletian Palace in Split, the old town of Dubrovnik, you can take a sea trip to discover every corner of the filming sites... Several Croatian travel agencies offer unique circuits dedicated to the series.

In March, filming for the 8th part of the saga began in Croatia… also in Dubrovnik! Its unique atmosphere, both authentic and conducive to escape, and its medieval treasures, such as its famous 2km ramparts, have once again seduced... No other information having been revealed to date, we will have to wait for the release of the film in December 2016 to find out more about other filming locations.
And anyway, if we are in Dubrovnik, we visit the Great Fountain of Onofrio, a magnificent building located at the level of The Pile Gate, at the entrance of the city. This is the perfect spot to admire the sunset...
