July or August ? This is the dilemma that comes up a little every year. Between the influx of tourists, the price and the rise in temperature, several criteria come into play. Here is a small study that will perhaps allow us to decide more easily. According to a report by the comparator Skyscanner, on the basis of the eleven destinations most booked by the French in 2017, the month of July would cost 9% more expensive than the month of August! Surprising, isn't it?
Thus, contrary to popular belief, several (very touristy) destinations would be less expensive in August than in July:Athens, Bali, Bangkok, Barcelona, London, Marrakech, Montreal, New York, Nice, Porto and Tunis. If we compare the average prices of a round trip with the month of July, for these eleven destinations, we discover for example that a trip to Bali (Indonesia) will cost 1799 euros in August, when it comes down to 2354 euros in July . To fly to New York, the price of plane tickets drops from 1337 euros to 1186 euros from one month to another, or from 596 euros to 487 euros for Tunis, i.e. a good hundred euros economy all the same! But of course, the months of June and September are unbeatable and remain the best alternatives to leave. June is on average 39% less expensive than the two key summer months, not to mention the number of tourists, which are much lower. You can also make a lot of savings by leaving in September, when prices are about 41% cheaper. Thus, a return flight to Porto (Portugal) can cost 179 euros in September, against 196 euros in June, and up to 406 euros in August. The choice is quickly made!
