The cost of living in the city has become so high that it is sometimes better to turn not to the countryside, but directly to the sea and the islets that inhabit it. After the island of Little Ross in Scotland offered for sale for €365,000 and an island in the Caribbean whose value reaches €470,000, it is another type of maritime refuge that can be acquired by adventurous souls who are not afraid to be cut off from the world. This is Stack Rock Fort which, as its name suggests, is a fort located off Milford Haven, a town on the east coast of Wales. The imposing building, which strongly resembles our national Fort Boyard, was built between 1850 and 1850 to defend British lands against the invasion of the troops of Napoleon III (who was none other than the nephew of Napoleon I). It was once equipped with 16 high-powered guns and housed some 150 soldiers who had to be on the alert.
The circular construction, which for the time being belongs to an individual, is composed of 3 floors accessible by spiral staircases, rooms which once housed the cannons and dormitories. The historic site obviously offers a 360 degree view of the port of the picturesque little town. And the price then? It is set at 400,000 pounds, or 455,000 euros (this is the price of a one-bedroom apartment in London). It's a small fortune indeed, but according to national real estate agency Purplebricks, the fort has "incredible capacity for development". Well, after the purchase, we will need additional funds for the renovation, if we understand correctly... According to the same agency, the current owners would have inquired about a possible transformation of the fort into a commercial space which could be connected To the earth. It's a shame but unfortunately, we don't have the half a million on us to save this little maritime gem from the works... Fingers crossed that a future buyer passionate about (and rich) history comes forward!
