We have all envied the celebrities who post photos of their holidays in their 5-star hotel, thinking that we could never afford a night in this kind of hotel. But that might change. The Skyscanner flight comparator has unveiled the list of destinations where the price of a night in a 5-star hotel has fallen. Thus, in 2018 we could afford a 5-star hotel in Amsterdam for 301 euros per night (compared to 519 euros in 2017), in Havana for 279 euros (361 euros in 2017), in Venice for 382 euros (compared to 488 euros in 2017) or in Palma de Mallorca for 248 euros (309 in 2017).
Skyscanner also took the opportunity to give some tips on how to reduce the price of a 5-star hotel even more. To enjoy a hotel at a good price (and it works even for a 4 star or a 2 star), you have to go out of season. The advantage? There are fewer tourists and it is not only the hotel that will be at a lower price, but also the activities in the area. You can also go to a less popular destination (hotels in capitals are often the most expensive). And we avoid “all-inclusive” formulas (except if we plan to spend all our days at the hotel), because many restaurants offer good food for less than that of the hotel. And for the most curious, some hotel chains offer very advantageous rates for the opening of a new complex in preview.
Now all we have to do is get a plane ticket to a 5-star destination!
