Wednesday, June 30, the suspense was at its height. Broadcast on France 3 at 9:05 p.m., the program "The Favorite Village of the French" presented by Stéphane Bern revealed its winner for 2021. Last year, it was the commune of Hunspach in the Bas-Rhin which had been sacred. This time it's the village of Sancerre located in the Cher which capsized the hearts of Internet users. It must be said that Sancerre has many assets, it is known for its vineyards but also for its superb panorama , its medieval streets and its gastronomic heritage including the crottin de Chavignol. That makes it an ideal vacation destination.
For this 10th edition, the competition was fierce. Fourteen villages were in the running for first place. The votes were open from March 4 to 25 and the French were well and truly there:more than 600,000 participants were counted. Among the finalists there is, in tenth place, the charming town of Saint-Véran perched at an altitude of 2,040 m, in the heart of the Queyras regional natural park in the Sud-Paca region. Just after, in eleventh position, the island of Houat in Brittany where nature and tranquility reign. In the top three is the medieval village Hérisson in Auvergne Rhone-Alpes and the old fortified town of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe in the Loire. With these addresses you will know where to go on vacation this summer !
