Zadar has been named Best European Destination of 2016 by European Best Destinations. The Croatian coastline is a perfect starting point to explore other parts of the coast thanks to its location in the center of the Adriatic sea. On the other hand, Zadar is protected from the north by the Velebit Mountains, which is why it is also considered a golden region. A short distance away you will find many islands, romantic beaches and bays that can only be reached by boat and where you will not meet anyone else. These types of waters are a paradise for water sports enthusiasts with many islands, idyllic harbors and friendly dolphins swimming along the bow.
Plaža Beritnica, Pag
The 3000-year-old city of Zadar has a rich history and a lively city center. The 'Kalelarga' is the car-free main street with many boutiques and cafes. There are two modern art installations on the boulevard; the sea organ where a fairytale chime sounds on the waves of the sea. To pay tribute to the sunset, there is also a pattern of solar cells, called “Greetings to the Sun”, which put on a light show as soon as it gets dark. A magical place! In addition to these modern sights, the city of Zadar also has many historical monuments. Such as the largest Roman forum on this side of the Adriatic and beautiful Romanesque churches such as St. Donatus, St. Anastasia and St. Chrysogonus.
