Spending too much time checking social media while on vacation could lead to arguments and even complete relationship breakdowns for couples this summer, a new survey shows. The survey of more than 1,000 married people found that while many had expected their partners to answer work calls or emails while on vacation, their biggest frustration came from their partners, who often used social media constantly.
While more than half of respondents say their partner sent an email or made a work-related phone call while on vacation, and more than a third say their partner often takes a laptop or phone with them on vacation, nearly 80 % that their partner actually had a good work-life balance. However, when it comes to using social media while on vacation, the results showed a very different story. Over 60% say their partner checked social media at least once a day while on vacation, a quarter say their partner did this several times a day, and a further 2.6% reported '10x+ a day' and 6 .8% say 'always'. More than a quarter of the participants said they felt frustrated or angry that their partner was not busy, or seemed "distracted" while on vacation with the family.
