Airbnb has become one of the most favorite ways to stay in a destination. You often have more space, you see the destination from a different way and it is cheaper than a hotel, so why not. If you're staying in an Airbnb with your partner, chances are you'll want to have sex too, just like you normally would in a hotel. But what is the etiquette for this? We explain it to you here.
Read the house rules
Most Airbnb hosts have house rules stating what is allowed and what is not. Make sure you actually read this one – it may contain some important things. It's unlikely a host has a "no sex" rule, but if they do and you ignore it, then you're in trouble, not them. They may also have rules that affect your specific sexual plans, such as "don't make noise after 10pm," so it's worth reading.
Always bring your own towels
Bringing your own towel is always a good idea if you have sex outside your own bedroom, but it is even more valuable here. Towels can be used for tidying up and can be placed on the bed to protect your host's sheets - without having to use theirs.
Keep your moans to a minimum
The ideal Airbnb situation means that you and your partner share a private home or a detached guest house. However, in most cases you share a house with the host/hostess and maybe there is only a wall separating you and them. In such a case, limiting noise is the least you can do to be a polite guest. This also applies to banging headboards and creaking springs!
No surprise guests
If you are in a shared home situation, don't surprise your host by bringing home a random person, especially if you booked and paid for yourself only. This is not allowed!
Don't do it everywhere!
Having sex in the bed where you sleep is okay. But don't do it in the bedroom or other rooms of the host / hostess and certainly not in the kitchen. And certainly don't move stuff to make room for all your positions. It is difficult to put things back in the exact places they were before and you can cause damage to them.
Destroy any evidence
The host/hostess knows you are an adult. They know you're probably going to have sex when there's just the two of you. But just because they know doesn't mean they want to face it. If you have sex in their house, at least make sure you destroy all evidence. Throw condoms in the trash and dispose of that bag before you leave. Make sure you don't leave any underwear under the bed. Even if you don't get the sheets dirty, change the bed yourself before you check out. This will reduce the amount of time and effort your host needs to clean up.
