Do you also get sleepless nights thinking about October 31, the creepiest night of the year? Halloween is just around the corner and for more and more people that means a night of ghost hunting. We've selected five horribly creepy destinations for you. Scary, scarier, scariest!
Paris, France
Parisians don't just let Halloween pass by. On the night before Halloween, there are long lines for the fancy dress shops, as every popular nightclub or disco invites its guests to a fancy Halloween party. But there is also plenty to do for families, for example in the Asterix Park, which changes from a Gallic village to a ghost town on Halloween, or the spectacular Disneyland, where you can imagine yourself in the setting of a terrifying horror film.
Helsinki, Finland
Helsinki residents can't get enough of it; they celebrate Halloween for an entire week with cobwebs, skeletons and pumpkins. Around the night of Halloween there are all kinds of parties in different clubs in the Lappeenranta district. Get ready for a lot of partygoers in carefully chosen costumes. The Finns will never miss an opportunity to scare you. You have been warned!
Darmstadt, Germany
Halloween is taken seriously here as only the Germans can. Cities are filled with monsters big and small, but the scariest experience lies far outside the urban realm. The most famous is the Frankenstein Castle in Darmstadt. Rumor has it that the owner's ghost still roams the medieval fortress. After the spooky tour, you're ready for some fresh air and a traditional meal – and they're just now serving it here.
Warwick Castle, England
If you want to experience real British horror, you should visit Warwick Castle this Halloween. Once night falls, scary creatures come to read in the old castle. Feel free to stay in England for a little longer, because in the days after Halloween, life-sized Guy Fawkes dolls – the man who tried to blow up parliament, but were stopped – are burned and there are many fireworks all over the country.
Edinburgh, Scotland
The Scottish city of Edinburgh is not unjustly called the City of Ghosts. In every dark alley, lost souls await lost travelers. So it takes a lot of courage to roam around here at Halloween. The creepiest place in the whole city is in the underground storage, where Burke and Hare used to sell the bodies of their dead victims. If you feel uncomfortable here, then it is better to listen to this. Little consolation:the tour guides offer you a glass of red wine against the worst fear.
