At two-thirds of this year 2017, it is time to take stock, and internationally please! Two rankings have already given us information on the cities where life is good and conversely the most unpleasant cities but also the most relaxed and stressful metropolises. It's time to talk about tourism now:MasterCard recently unveiled its Index of World Urban Destinations which lists the 132 most visited cities in the world for the 9th consecutive year. Of course, as the year is not over, it is a prediction based on already known data which are the nights booked by international tourists. And we start at the end (yes, otherwise it's less funny!):between 30th and 20th places we find Johannesburg (30th) with 4.8 million tourists, Berlin (29th), Madrid (25th), Los Angeles (22nd), Miami (21st) and Prague in 20th place with 6.4 million visitors.
Places 20 to 10 are occupied among others by Vienna (19th), Shanghai (18th), Rome (17th), Milan (14th), Amsterdam (13th), Barcelona (12th) and Istanbul, which should be visited by 9.24 million tourists by the end of the year. We are getting serious with the top 10, and European cities are becoming increasingly rare. The 10 million visitor mark is crossed from 9th place with Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia (12.1 M) – 10th place being occupied by Hong Kong – preceded by New York, Seoul, Tokyo (12.5 M ), Singapore and Dubai in 4th place with 16 million. The top 3 closes with our beautiful Paris, which should welcome 16.1 million people in 2017, beaten by its neighbor across the Channel London and its 20 million tourists. Finally, the medal for the most visited city this year should go to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand (20.2 M). The full ranking is available on The Independent . And you, are you planning to discover one of the metropolises this year?
