CHRISTMAS ON THE SCHIE
The Havenkerk on the Lange Haven, which has been decorated in a warm Christmas atmosphere, will form the living room of the city from 17 to 24 December with a real Christmas studio:Kerst aan de Schie-online. On Candles Eve, Mayor Lamers will not only light the candles in the eight-meter-high Christmas tree from his studio on 17 December, but also all the other lights in the city. The happening can be followed between 7 and 8 p.m. via SchieTV and the website www.kerbesteschie.nl.
Christmas balls with a story
Over the course of the days, the enormous Christmas tree in the Havenkerk is decorated with paper baubles on which every Schiedammer can write or craft a special story or memory. The Christmas balls are distributed via the Nieuwe Stadsblad and can be returned to numerous supermarkets, the Havenkerk and the I-PUNT de WAAG. In the Christmas studio, invited Schiedammers tell the beautiful story behind their Christmas bauble submission in front of the camera every day.

Residents are called upon via indebuurt Schiedam to support the elderly in Schiedam during this difficult time. If you want to send a Christmas card, visit the website of indebuurt Schiedam for more information. You can leave a card in the letterbox at the I-PUNT in the WAAG. The more cards, the better! TOGETHER WE LIGHTEN SCHIEDAM CENTER
From December 8, Schiedam center will be festively lit. Enjoy illuminated bridges, buildings and extra festive Christmas decorations on the Hoogstraat. There are 120 Christmas trees scattered throughout the city centre, the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam provides portraits in the shop windows and projections on the Municipal Office. Do you shop locally? Who knows, with your purchase you may receive a unique poem by Yvette Neuschwanger (the city poet) attached to a candle.
Wander safely from a distance and with a festive mouth cap around the historic city center, let the magical lights and atmospheric shop windows surprise you and shop the most beautiful things for a successful holiday. If it is too busy in the city center, be sensible and come back another time.

Feel free to visit the I-PUNT de WAAG, Lange Kerkstraat 39, where an original distilled Christmas tree will be displayed from December 5th. Super fun for a holiday selfie!
