Rochefort-en-Terre! It was yesterday that this small village of Morbihan was crowned "favorite village of the French", in the program of the same name presented by Stéphane Bern. 175,000 people voted for Rochefort-en-Terre:the village was elected ahead of Montreuil-sur-mer and Rocamadour.
Thanks to this victory, the Breton town will benefit from a real tourist boost. "It's still huge," explained Jean-François Humeau, mayor of Rochefortais, after the forecasts made of future tourism in his town. Indeed, more than one million visitors are expected for 2017! The figure will drop to 900,000 visits on average over time. A huge leap for Morbihan tourism when we know that Rochefort-en-Terre welcomed between 500,000 and 600,000 tourists before its television appearance... And that the village has just under 700 inhabitants. The big seaside resorts no longer have the coast, we prefer to spend our holidays in peace, between walks and fresh air.
