Not long ago, you were presented with a map of the best (and not so good) countries to move to, but one criterion was not taken into account, that of the quality of life for vegetarians. However, the number of people turning to this diet which excludes all animal flesh has increased over the years, and the vegan philosophy is also very trendy. The big brands are therefore trying to adapt (we think for example of the Grand Veggie from McDonald’s) and vegetarian options are increasingly on the shelves of supermarkets. But when you go to a restaurant, it's another story... and it's even more complex when you travel abroad! The company Oliver's Travel , specializing in the rental of holiday accommodation, has therefore compiled a map listing the best countries for vegetarians.
To establish this map, the agency relied on 3 indices:the number of restaurants offering vegetarian dishes, their reception capacity (roughly, the country's population divided by the number of restaurants suitable for vegetarians) and finally , the average meat consumption per capita per year. The Seychelles are at the top of this ranking, followed very closely by Thailand and Malaysia. In fourth position we find the African archipelago of Sao Tome and Principe, followed by Peru, Singapore, Cambodia, the Solomon Islands, the United Kingdom and finally, in 10th place, Botswana. France ranks 31st in the ranking. How to explain that so few European countries are present in the top when vegetarian food is more and more popular there? This is a relatively recent phenomenon with us, although it is rooted in certain cultures where it is normal to see omnivorous dishes and vegetarian dishes coexist on the menu.
We let you discover the map as a whole and who knows, it might give you ideas for future trips?!
