In 2016, more than a century after the death of the painter Vincent Van Gogh, the Art Institute of Chicago had commissioned a reconstruction of his famous painting The Bedroom (which can be admired at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam) as part of an exhibition in Chicago. Located in the River North district of Chicago, the room took place in an apartment and it must be said that the resemblance to the painting was striking with its walls and furniture decorated in the colors of Van Gogh's painting. It's simple, all the elements of the canvas were present, right down to the retouching of hinges on the walls and furniture. Able to accommodate two people, it was offered for rent on Airbnb for only $10 (just over €8).
We talk about it in the past, because the American room was only available during the exhibition, from February 14 to May 10, 2016. Sniff! But don't panic, an alternative has been imagined and this, much closer to home:in Arles, in Provence. As we can read in the advertisement written by Eryk, the owner, on Airbnb, "any coincidence or resemblance with characters or places having existed in the past is neither coincidental nor unintentional...". So, of course, it is more expensive (it takes 37 € per night), but it offers an authentic atmosphere and above all dispenses with a 6,500 km trip to Chicago! Better not delay to book it, it is very coveted...
So, a night in a painting, would you like it?
