Travel specialist, the Skyscanner flight comparator regularly reveals tips and good deals to make our lives easier. With its expertise, the site decided to consult travel bloggers to ask them what they think about when it comes to travel, just to avoid unpleasant surprises. Here's a reminder to keep for our next getaways...
Losing (or having your ID stolen) happens more often than you might imagine. It is therefore good to travel with a copy of your passport and/or your identity card (the best thing is to have both), which you keep in a safe place and obviously not with the passport. Thus, if you are ever the victim of a theft or have lost your passport or CNI, it will be easier to prove your identity to the French embassy on site.
Generally, we know what time is the flight we have to take, but… it can be good to check the day before the day of departure, just to make sure that we have not confused the time of departure. closing the doors with the departure door (because there, we are magnifying the plane!).
If you take a daily treatment, even the pill, it's good to travel with a copy of the prescription but also the leaflet of the drug. That way, if we have a problem, we can present them to the doctor on site. Admittedly, he will not necessarily speak French, but he will be able to find the name of the molecule(s) and advise.
We don't always know it, but Google Maps offers an offline mode that allows you to download the map of a specific geographical area so that you can consult it even when you don't have access to mobile data or wifi. This is handy when you travel abroad and don't have an international package.
No matter where you travel, you do not always have access to several electrical outlets, which means that you sometimes have to make a choice in the devices you want to recharge. To avoid this, you can invest in a travel power strip (like the one from Watt&Co, available for around €20). By the way, we remember to check the type of electrical outlet that works where we travel, just to bring an adapter if necessary.
Tourist guides and websites often give a good estimate of the weather at a given time of the year, but it's even better to check just before departure, just to adapt the contents of your suitcase to reality. And on site, if you plan excursions and outings, don't hesitate to check the local weather forecast.
Bon voyage!
