The smaller southern lake is called the Upper Lough because it is higher up the river. The larger northern lake is called the Lower Lough or Broad Lough. The town of Enniskillen is on the short river between the lakes. The lake has more than 150 islands and many bays and inlets.

10. Rock of Dunamase is a rock in the town of Stradbally in County Laois. The rock, 46 meters above a plain, has the ruins of Dunamase Castle, an early Hiberno-Norman period defensive stronghold overlooking the Slieve Bloom Mountains.
11. The Sugarloaf is a 552m peak to the west of Wicklow, which lies on the northern edge of the Glen of Imaal.
