Amsterdam has a new indoor camping site richer:Outside Inn. A real campsite has been realized in an empty commercial building with a variety of fully renovated vintage caravans with newly built beds and super-deluxe mattresses. In addition to caravans, there are also five sleek beach houses painted in modern colors with beach sand in front of the door, and for romantics there is a Pipo the Clown car to book. To enhance the camping effect, the entire space is fitted with artificial grass and each accommodation has its own seat in front of the door. Around the corner is the Van der Madeweg metro station, which takes you to Nieuwmarkt and Central Station in 10 to 15 minutes.
1000 m² indoor camping
The industrial design in the old business premises with a surface area of 1000 m² has largely been kept intact. For example, the concrete columns and the roof with skylights have been preserved. An old hippie caravan has been placed above the entrance on the roof as an eye-catcher, as well as a new ventilation system to ensure a fresh, safe and healthy indoor climate.
Vintage caravan, new bed
Anyone who sees the sleekly furnished caravans now will not realize that the majority of them were very old and very dilapidated models that owner and restorer Willem Megens himself completely stripped and redecorated on the inside. “An additional advantage was that I could also install custom-made double beds to create a perfect place to sleep,” says Megens. A completely new wet room has been built in the basement with luxurious sanitary facilities including underfloor heating.

Megens got inspiration for the beach houses from Willemstad on Curaçao, the free-standing cabanas have the same pastel-like colours. You walk to the front door via a wooden platform over beach sand, each cottage also has its own sitting area.
Facilities
Free WiFi is available and there are power outlets in every accommodation. Guests can store valuables in their own locker if they wish. A separate room in the basement has been transformed into a relaxation area with comfortable armchairs, a bookcase, a fridge with soft drinks and a beer tap. Or you can drink your own drinks there. You can also rent bicycles - including electric ones - to explore the city center or the surrounding meadows. Outside Inn has various cycling routes available and information about places of interest in Amsterdam. Guests can also choose from 3 breakfast options, costs are 9.50 euros pp. Good news for those arriving by car:parking in front of the door is free on weekends and after 6 p.m. during the week.
