Tired of city life and in need of some much-needed relaxation? You don't have to look far! Go with (or without) your whole family to the Wadden Islands:a beautiful and very special area in the far north of the Netherlands. We have collected some nice addresses for you if you want to spend the night on the Wadden Islands. The five inhabited Wadden Islands of the Netherlands are Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. Do you remember them from your geography lesson?

On each of the islands you can really enjoy the beach, the dunes, the sea and the view of the vast landscapes and the open horizon. Experience the island feeling, the rhythm of ebb and flow and surrender to the total relaxation that comes with the peace and space. I can remember it so well! I used to go to Texel every year with my parents. Just the ferry to cross… super exciting! Just as exciting as spending the night in the Beekse Bergen!
Now we slept in a tent at the time and I still dreamed about elephants on the roof, if I were to go again now I would choose a slightly different setting. But that is possible… because there is plenty of choice. Plenty of accommodation options on the Wadden Islands of the Netherlands, how about a stay in a bungalow park or a sleepover in a bed and breakfast or small hotel?
Book a midweek on one of the Wadden Islands, where you can easily reach the other islands with that (for me so) special ferry.
If you want to spend the night on the Wadden Islands, Landal is well represented. You can spend the night in a park on all the Wadden Islands, and on Texel and Terschelling they have no fewer than 3 parks that you can choose from.
Texel is the largest island in the entire Wadden Sea Region and is home to a number of beautiful nature reserves. You will become acquainted with nature, the characteristic villages and the seals that reside on the Wadden Island and sandbanks. Spending the night on the Wadden Island of Texel offers more than enough choice. Of course, various activities are offered on the islands, such as mudflat hiking, water sports recreation, golf and horseback riding. I can also tell fantastic stories about that horse riding . The best known is the National Park Dunes of Texel. But just as beautiful are the nature reserves De Slufter, De Muy and De Schorren. Forests, dunes and beach, it is abundantly present on Texel.
Do you like villages? Then the villages of Den Burg, Den Hoorn and of course De Koog (the village where the Ecomare museum is located, complete with seal sanctuary) are definitely worth a visit. This village also offers many other facilities, including a kart center and a subtropical swimming pool.
In addition to Landal, StayOkay Texel is also a good place to stay if you want to spend the night on the Wadden Islands.
Vlieland, easily accessible from Texel, has a completely different ambiance. It is the decor of the television series Doctor Deen. Are you also a fan? This series was actually shot on this Wadden Island.
Oost-Vlieland is the only village on this island, but also a very lively village, nice to spend the night on the Wadden Islands. The Dorpsstraat is a luxury shopping street in the center of the village and is considered the P.C. Hooftstraat in Vlieland. The other village of West-Vlieland was washed away by the sea in 1736. On that part of the island a large sandy plain has been created, called the Vliehors. This area is also known as the 'Sahara of the North.'
Would you like to go to Vlieland and stay there for a while? They have a number of nice hotels and lodgings to spend the night on Vlieland.
Terschelling, the island of the four seasons, offers a lot of natural beauty:heathland, forests, dunes and wide beaches, where it is wonderful to relax and have wonderful fun. Terschelling guarantees peace and space. Good for clearing your head. If you want to spend the night on this Wadden Island, take a nice walk to the legendary lighthouse the Brandaris. This one is still on my wish list. Other activities that you can undertake here include flying a kite, sand yachting and kite surfing.
Landal is also well represented on Terschelling 😉 , but would you prefer something different, such as a nice hotel? Then check this site for an overnight stay on the Wadden Islands. Nice discounts!
Dunes, forest and salt marshes characterize Ameland. ‘T Oerd is one of the nature reserves here. Mudflat walking is a common activity in this region, you would almost think that the expression 'standing with your feet in the mud' was born here. Did you know that here are the widest beaches in Europe? If you don't feel like the beach, visit the charming village of Nes, which has the appearance of a historic postcard village. Read this blog if you are looking for some great tips about what you can do on Ameland with the children.
Spending the night on the Wadden Islands and preferably on Ameland? There are very nice hotels in the charming village of Nes!
On Schiermonnikoog you will find no fewer than eight different natural landscapes. This island is a mecca for bird watchers. The village of Schiermonnikoog is a very pleasant place with restaurants, cafes, bars and even a disco for the youth. So the youth from, for example, Rotterdam and the surrounding area will also be able to enjoy themselves here!
Nice places to spend the night can be found here and of course you can also spend the night on this Wadden island at Landal if you want.
