When you go on holiday with an electric car, it requires more planning than when you go on holiday with a petrol or diesel car. The car must of course be charged because the battery of an electric car cannot drive an unlimited number of kilometers. However, I do find the whole planning story a huge challenge. Or the stress of whether you will make it to your holiday destination. In fact… the chance that you will drive to your holiday destination in one go is not that great. This is slightly easier with the Tesla than with other electric cars, but you also have to top up in between, depending on your destination.

This has to do with charging the electric car. First of all, it is of course important that the accommodation where you are going has a possibility to charge the electric car.
If that is not the case, you will already arrive with a (half) empty battery and from there you have to figure out what to do. With a Tesla it is slightly different. The American car factory has developed a possibility that allows you to see where the stations are and how busy it is at that time. You may also choose a distance where you have to charge the car on the way. You should then keep a close eye on whether there are charging stations on the road. So you actually have to adjust the route to the points where the electric car can be charged.
Are you going on holiday with an electric car? Then the ANWB also advises not to drive too far by car. How far the car gets is also dependent on the weather and the temperature outside. In very hot weather or very cold weather, it may just be that the battery of your car reacts differently than you would expect. It is possible that the battery is empty faster and then you are standing still. To prevent this, it is important to schedule enough stops. Better one stop too many than one too few, of course. Don't forget to bring a regular plug that fits into a regular socket.
