"Travels form youth" says the proverb. Well, it would seem that they also participate in happiness. This is what emerges in any case from a large survey conducted by the Booking site (which connects travelers with places to stay around the world) with 17,157 people in 17 countries around the world. Thus, traveling brings more happiness than material objects for 70% of respondents. 56% put their vacations before the things they own and 48% consider travel more important than home improvement projects. And when they are asked to place the trip (and its planning) above another important event, they are 51% to prefer it to a romantic evening, 50% to a new job, 49% to the day of their marriage (nooo?!), 45% at their engagement (!!) and 29% at the birth of a child.
77% of respondents say they book a stay when they feel the need to feel happy. And it is also the preparation that brings the most joy since 72% believe that they only take pleasure when they are looking for the destination of their next vacation. Between the reservation and the trip, 39% of people admit to thinking about their vacation at least once a day. Consulting a map and looking for places to visit is also a source of happiness for 8 out of 10 people, while more than half enjoy shopping and preparing their wardrobe (normal!). And 6 out of 10 people consult the comments posted on the accommodation booked.
But the best of the best is obviously being on vacation! For 62% of respondents, scheduling an away message and leaving work is a source of joy. 87% of them believe that the first day of vacation is the best time of vacation, while 83% say they love discovering their accommodation. And for 70%, feeling at home when you are on vacation is an important criterion:for 2/3 of those questioned, happiness is found in a hotel, in a youth hostel or in a villa, while 33% feel more happy in an apartment or a guest house.
Well, that's not all, but when's the next vacation?
