Well, it seems that this luminous phenomenon still fascinates and attracts as much. If it is the wish of many to observe a polar aurora, (called aurora borealis in the northern hemisphere, aurora australis in the southern hemisphere) it is necessary to know that it is possible to attend it, and this directly in the airs ! This is what the New Zealand airline Aurora Australis offers, which organized a commercial flight whose sole objective was to observe the magnificent lights for four hours!
This theft took place on March 23, 2017. As the plane headed for the South Pole, some lucky travelers had the opportunity to cross an aurora australis. For this flight, Aurora Australis had only put window seats on sale, so that everyone could make the most of the phenomenon. Other flights are already planned by the company next year. These flights will take place at very specific times, the polar auroras not being visible at any time of the year. But of course, these fascinating flights come at a price. In addition to the price of the trip to New Zealand, you will have to pay between 2,600€ (in economy class) and 5,600€ (in first class) to live this experience.
Well, not sure that we can afford it, so we will have to hope that the offer becomes widespread and that the prices go down...
