Located in Central America, Costa Rica is bordered by two oceans which make the environment unique, with the presence of exceptionally rich fauna and flora, which is quite rare these days. Costa Rica alone is home to 6% of the world's biodiversity, there are 850 different species of birds, 34,000 kinds of insects and 12,000 species of plants. Every year, surprising scientific discoveries are made there, such as the translucent frog found in 2015. In addition, there is an extremely rare diversity of landscapes in this country, long sandy beaches, virgin forests but also volcanoes and corals.
Since 1998 the country has been pursuing a policy that advocates respect for the environment and currently 26% of the territory is classified as a "protected area". This also allowed the forest to regain its rights, it now covers half of the territory. Regarding energy production, the country now uses 98.7% of renewable energies. A paying policy since in 2015, 2.5 million visitors were seduced by this luxuriant nature. An original travel idea, to go green!
