For the second consecutive year, Colmar has been voted the most welcoming city on the accommodation rental platform, Airbnb. Alsatian Little Venice received the best ratings and reviews from travelers who stayed there in 2017.
We find in second position, Nîmes which presents a sensational rise, gaining 6 places compared to last year. Arles completes the third step of the podium, surely thanks to the popularity of its famous photographic encounters.
Chamonix is the fourth most welcoming city in France, followed by Annecy, Honfleur, La Teste-de-Buch, Reims, Cannes and finally, Vannes in tenth position. A very random list therefore, with rather historic towns but also mountain towns or seaside resorts... This list was established on the basis of towns in French resort areas having collected at least 6,500 traveler ratings in 2017. Note however that this ranking excludes the ten largest tricolor urban areas.
Airbnb does not stop there and has also carried out the survey in other European countries. The result is not surprising, in Spain, travelers prefer sunny destinations and acclaim Andalusia, and its capital Seville. The Canary Islands come second with Santa Cruz de Tenerife, followed by Girona in Catalonia. As for Portugal, backpackers fell in love with the green and volcanic islands of Madeira, with its capital Funchal.
