Until then, when we talked about the summer holidays, we distinguished two schools. Those who decide to leave in July, and on the other side, the Augustians. Except that going offbeat has become more and more trendy and if Septembrists only represented 10% of summer departures in 2016, this figure jumped to 20% this year! An increase which obviously shows that travelers are gradually turning away from the July and August rush and the overcrowding of the sites. Not to mention the attractive prices... But then, where do these Septembrists plan to sunbathe this fall? HomeToGo.fr, the largest vacation rental search engine in the world, has looked into the matter and reveals the top 10 most searched destinations for the month of September.
Apparently, to take advantage of the last days of summer, the French will be heading for Portugal! Two Portuguese cities top the rankings, Algarve, followed closely by the capital, Lisbon. With an average temperature of 25 degrees in September, the country of Cristiano Ronaldo is the ideal destination to extend the summer, avoiding the heat
scorching. We then find Amsterdam on the third step of the podium. Between its museums, its walks on the banks of the canals and its many cultural events, you never get bored in the Dutch capital! Mallorca is in 4th position and we can understand why. Less crowded than in August, the beaches of the island are perfect for spending a few days in peace, far from the stress and tumult of back to school. France is not left out since our beautiful capital comes to close this top 5 and we also find 4 other French destinations! Ajaccio (6th), Nice (8th), Île de Ré (9th) and finally Reunion Island in last position. Spain still has a small appearance in the rankings with the pretty city of Barcelona, in 7th position.
So, are you planning to leave in September?
