The Netherlands is ready for a holiday. Almost half of the Dutch indicate that they are really looking forward to the holiday. Not surprising, given the intensive home life of the past few months. But what do we need at our holiday address in Corona time? Belvilla investigated this.
Dutch couples need a holiday break
It is mainly couples who need a break (58%). Families with a maximum of two children also look forward to a holiday after the intensive period at home (36%). The holiday spirit is described by the majority of the respondents as 'something to look forward to' (44%). More than a third indicate that they need to get back to 'normal' life, because Covid-19 will remain for the time being (34%).
Celebrating a holiday close to home The Dutch choose to stay close to home this summer and opt for a holiday in their own country or in one of the neighboring countries. The Netherlands is still the most popular, but neighboring countries such as Belgium, Germany and France are also popular.
This summer holiday we will cook ourselves
However great the need, everyone realizes that the summer holidays will look different this year. Almost half of the respondents indicate that they would like to stay in an accommodation where they can prepare their own food (46%) and where it is not too busy (38%). Other needs that the Dutch see as the 'cherries on the cake' this summer and provide more relaxation are:
The presence of a supermarket in the vicinity (42%);
Frequent cleaning (37%) );
And not having to have contact with other guests (25%).
